freely around her face. As she leaned against the doorframe, she could hear the others talking tersely around her as if she wasn’t there, and she knew if she closed her eyes, she could almost pretend she wasn’t. But reality beckoned.
Matt caught her eye. “Back among the living?”
Hunter laughed softly and moved into the room. She chose a seat at the head of the table between Sara and Tessa. The tension in the room eased considerably, and she let the conversations drift as she watched the monitor in front of her come to life. Conner set up a split screen to cover both the exterior and interior views. “Hey, Q, what time did you get the call from security?”
“Twelve twenty-two.”
“I’ll start the disc at twelve hundred.” Conner glanced at Hunter, received a nod of agreement. She swiftly input her selection then leaned back to watch her monitor as the images appeared. Beside her, Adrienne leaned forward in total concentration.
The exterior scanners enabled them to watch a steady stream of vehicles—cars, SUVs, vans—pull in and out. The vehicles picked up or dropped off passengers, and any arrivals were then captured by the interior scanners as they approached security. There seemed to be a lot of traffic.
“Smart boy, picking the lunch hour,” Peter commented. “Lots of people coming and going. Maybe he thought that would help him slip through security.”
Sara shook her head. “I don’t think so,” she said thoughtfully.
“He may be escalating but he’s not a fool. He’d have done his homework and had a good idea of the security systems that are in place. In fact, I’d hazard a guess this was not his first visit.”
“How far back do you think we’re talking?” Matt asked.
“We could be looking at anytime since you moved the Roswell Group into this location.” Sara glanced at Hunter and saw her nod her head. An instant later, she saw her stiffen.
“Stop. Freeze that frame.”
All conversation ceased and everyone directed their attention to the white courier van with green markings currently frozen on the screen. Almost immediately, Conner split the screen further,
